Let there be real harmony among you so there won't be any split in the church. I plead with you to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.
1 Corinthians 1: 10

OUR STORY
The First Presbyterian Church of Lehigh Acres was started under the guidance of the Home Mission Committee of Westminster Presbytery. In March 1963, a small group met in the offices of the Lehigh Corporation to discuss the formation of a Presbyterian Church in Lehigh Acres. Deciding to move ahead, services were first conducted in the Lehigh Auditorium. A petition bearing enough signatures was presented to the Presbytery for the organization of a Presbyterian church in Lehigh Acres.
On December 8, 1963, a meeting was held in the Lehigh Auditorium, at which time the First Presbyterian Church of Lehigh Acres was constituted, with sixty-one (61) members assuring membership. The Lehigh Corporation donated two acres of ground, and additional property was secured. Construction was started in May 1964. The first service in the "Church of the Praying Hands" was held on January 23, 1966.
As the church grew, additional space was needed; so on July 25, 1988, construction was started on Faith Hall. On October 22, 1989, Faith Hall was dedicated.
We thank the early pioneers in the formation of this church, and look forward to a future that will be limited only by our vision and our dedication.

* Motivating Vision

Key Mission:
To bring thirsty people to the life-giving,
life changing Spring!

*
WHY WE EXIST AS A CHURCH |top of page|
The purpose of Christ's church was expressed in two key scriptures:
The Great Commandment: [Jesus said] "Love the Lord your God with all your heart …soul…and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Profits hang on these two commandments"
Matt. 22: 37-40
The Great Commission [Jesus said] "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you"
Matt 28: 19-20
To "Love God with all your heart" is WORSHIP.
To "Love your neighbor as yourself" is MINISTRY.
To "Go…make disciples" is EVANGELISM.
To "Baptize…" is incorporate into FELLOWSHIP.
To "Teach them…all things" is DISCIPLESHIP.

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN BEDROCK BELIEFS |top of page|
· God's Word for Life
The whole bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us to do what is right.
(2 Timothy 3:15)
· Secure in Our Father's Hands
Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His.
(Psalm 100:3)
· Sin Separates; the Cross Saves
God demonstrates His own love for us in this; While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(Romans 5:8)
· Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life
I am the Resurrection and the Life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.
(John 11:25)
· Receiving Grace Yields Graciousness
If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
(2 Corinthians 5:17-18)
· Spirit-Empowered Church for the World
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
(Acts 1:8)
· God Will Make a Way
We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
(Romans 8:28)
